He Will Never Leave Us!

Acts 2:25-37
New International Version 1984 (NIV1984)
25 David said about him:
“‘I saw the Lord always before me.
    Because he is at my right hand,
    I will not be shaken.
26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
    my body also will live in hope,
27 because you will not abandon me to the grave,
    nor will you let your Holy One see decay.
28 You have made known to me the paths of life;
    you will fill me with joy in your presence.’
29 “Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. 30 But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. 31 Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. 32 God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. 33 Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. 34 For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said,
“‘The Lord said to my Lord:
    “Sit at my right hand
35 until I make your enemies
    a footstool for your feet.”’
36 “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
Peter uses scriptures, writings of a former king and a prophet of God to bring to the Jewish people the message of the Good News of Jesus Christ.  As I read the quote from David I had to think, that even though David was talking about Jesus Christ many of the words held true for David and us as well.  Let’s take look at the quote, how does it relate to us?
1.       God is always before us.  Although we are not seated at the right hand of God, I believe His hand is upon us as we journey in this world.  That is, if we know Him as Lord of our lives.  Jesus had direct communion with God, He prayed, and we are given the same opportunity to pray to our Father in Heaven, through the Son, Jesus Christ.  Prayer strengthens us.  Are we praying?
2.      When we have that communion with God, we will rejoice and be glad.  There is no need to worry about the things of this world, to be downcast in our situations when we have the joy of the Lord available to us.
In Joshua 1:5, Joshua is told by God that He would never leave nor forsake Joshua just like He never left His servant Moses.  In Hebrews 13:5 we learn that the verse in Joshua not only applies to Joshua but as believers we too have the promise given to us. We can live in hope because of the knowledge that He is in control and will take care of us.  Let’s look a little closer at
Hebrews 13:4 -5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
“Never will I leave you;
    never will I forsake you.”
So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
    What can man do to me?”
Wow, when God leads we can be filled with joy and we don’t have to worry about being taken care of, He as promised us that He will care for us!!!

3.      Jesus never saw decay of His body, He was resurrected before that time came.  Because of this we know that He is the Christ.  There is no other god worshipped by man that can claim the resurrection power.  One day our bodies will see decay but we will be given new bodies and we too will be resurrected.  Those who believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ will have the opportunity to live with Him for eternity.  If you do not know Christ, you will be separated from Him eternally.
Will you choose to follow the Lord and live a life free from worry and full of hope?  I trust that as you seek Him you will find much joy, peace, and contentment in whatever life may bring your way because you know that He cares for you.

Seeking Him with all my heart,
Sheila
