Joel 1:1-3
English Standard Version (ESV)
1 The word of the Lord that came to Joel, the son of
Pethuel:
2 Hear this, you elders;
give ear, all inhabitants of the land!
Has such a thing happened in your days,
or in the days of your fathers?
3 Tell your children of it,
and let your children tell their children,
and their children to another generation.
give ear, all inhabitants of the land!
Has such a thing happened in your days,
or in the days of your fathers?
3 Tell your children of it,
and let your children tell their children,
and their children to another generation.
As I read these
first few verses today, I was reminded of how we need to share the works of the
Lord with our children. The past few
days I have been at my daughter’s house and my oldest granddaughter, who is
five, wanted me to tell her Bible stories.
One evening I got my Bible out to tell her a story because I wanted to
follow along in the Bible to tell her so I didn’t forget any of the
details. She just wanted me to close my
Bible and tell her the story. How often
do we forget the stories that are so available to us in our Bible and we want
to depend on it to get us through? There
may come a time that we do not have our Bibles readily available to us. Do we know what is inside of them? Can we tell the stories to our children and
our children’s children. We need to
share the Word and we need to hold it close to our hearts and minds.
As you seek Him
today, may you find the stories within the Bible are also in your heart and
mind and may you share them with others.
Seeking Him with
all my heart,
Sheila
