Difficult Times

2 Timothy 3:1
English Standard Version (ESV)
3 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.

2 Timothy 3:12-17

English Standard Version (ESV)

12 Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom[a] you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God[b] may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Often times when troubles come our way we look to God.  Sometimes we look to God and ask Him, “Why?” and other times will seek out His comfort.  The, “why?” is pretty apparent, it is not because of Him it is because of our sinful nature.  There is not one of  us who has not sinned against God.  Sinning is simply, “Anything that we think, say, or do that displeases God” a phrase taught to me through Child Evangelism Fellowship.  If we have ever displeased God in any shape or form we have sinned.  There is no one to blame but ourselves when we sin.  We might try to blame Eve or Adam but if it hadn’t have been them it would have been someone else, maybe even me, that would have let curiosity get the best of him or her.

So, here we are, in a world that seems to have gone mad.  What do we do about it?  There seems to be lots of suggestions.  We hear, get rid of guns, keep guns, become tight on immigration, monitor people more closely, etc.   The Word of God on the other hand tells us to expect it.  The Word of God tells us to remember whose we are.  It tells us to remember the Words that come directly from God into our hearts and minds.  We need to continue to use scripture to teach, reproof, correct, and train us so that we can be righteous, not self-righteous but righteous through Him.

Hold on to your faith, in times of uncertainty.  God has let us know that these things will happen.  Turn to Him, seek Him through His Word, with all your heart, so that you may know that He is Lord of Lords, Ruler over all, King of all Kings.

Seeking Him with all my heart,

Sheila
