Psalm
138 English
Standard Version (ESV)
Of David.
138
I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart;
before the gods I sing
your praise;
2
I bow down toward your holy temple
and give thanks to your
name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness,
for you have exalted
above all things
your name and your word.[a]
3
On the day I called, you answered me;
my strength of soul you
increased.[b]
4
All the kings of the earth shall give you thanks, O Lord,
for they have heard the
words of your mouth,
5
and they shall sing of the ways of the Lord,
for great is the glory
of the Lord.
6
For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly,
but the haughty he knows
from afar.
7
Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
you preserve my
life;
you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
and your right hand
delivers me.
8
The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me;
your steadfast love, O
Lord, endures forever.
Do not forsake the work of your hands.
I
wonder how long it will be before some of these words come to fruition? It seems that our world is so far from
recognizing God, that it almost seems impossible for them to turn around. However, we know that God will make Himself
known to all the world in such a way that they will all bow to Him. So, we wait and we trust that He knows what
He is doing.
Just
a note to anyone who may think they are better than someone else; God, who is
above all, acknowledges the lowly (regards them) yet those who think of
themselves as “all it”, He keeps at a distance.
Note, however, He does not disregard them, but holds them at a
distance. Why do you think that is? My thoughts are that the lowly depend on Him,
call on Him, know that He is their strength whereas the haughty think they can
do it all on their own and don’t put their trust and dependence in Him. Someday, when Christ returns, those who
remain haughty will come to the realization that they are now the lowly. We need to pray for those who need the Lord
yet refuse to acknowledge that they do.
Lastly
today, we see that the Lord has a purpose for each and every one of us and He
will fulfill it. As we go through life
we tend to think we have dreams that we need to fulfill but in actuality it is
God who has given us our purpose, to proclaim Him, and we need to know and
understand that He is going to fulfill those plans in us. Just watch and trust Him as you seek Him with
all your heart.
Seeking
Him with all my heart,
Sheila
