His Plan

Psalm 46
English Standard Version (ESV)
To the choirmaster. Of (A)the Sons of Korah. According to (B)Alamoth.[a] A Song.
46 God is our (C)refuge and strength,
    a very (D)present[b] help in (E)trouble.
Therefore we will not fear (F)though the earth gives way,
    though the mountains be moved into (G)the heart of the sea,
though (H)its waters roar and foam,
    though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah
There is (I)a river whose streams make glad(J)the city of God,
    the holy (K)habitation of the Most High.
(L)God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
    God will help her when morning dawns.
(M)The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
    he (N)utters his voice, the earth (O)melts.
(P)The Lord of hosts is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
(Q)Come, behold the works of the Lord,
    how he has brought desolations on the earth.
(R)He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
    he (S)breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
    (T)he burns the chariots with fire.
10 (U)“Be still, and know that I am God.
    (V)I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth!”
11 (W)The Lord of hosts is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

I don’t know what mountains are trembling and falling for you today.  I don’t know what your struggles in life are.  I don’t know if your struggles come from the forces on the outside or the forces on the inside.  Sometimes people can look like they have it all together but on the inside the waters are raging.  No, I don’t know about you but I do know my own struggles and I do know the only One who can calm those raging waters within me.

Our world looks like it could just fall apart at any time.  You only have to turn the television and watch the news to see that we do not live in a perfect, sinless world.  Yet, we have someone who can be a constant peace if only we would allow Him to be.  Some of my deepest, darkest moments have revealed a peace that is only found in Him.  When I struggle with this world and the ever changing mess that it is in, I know I can go to the One who is ultimately in control.  When I look at myself and see the mess I am in, I know that I can call on Him.  I know I have a bright future in Him.  My bright future is yet to come, in another place than on this earth.  That future holds a promise of not ever being separated from Him!  I have to cling to that promise and I have continually seek Him and His promises to make sense of any of the chaos around me or at least of have a peace about it.

I struggle, yes, but when I do,  I run to the Lord who is my strength, my fortress in times of trouble.  He above all knows and understands my heart.  I don’t have to try to put it into words because He knows them already.

As you struggle in life, remember there is a God who loves you.  There is a God with a plan.  Think about His plan of creating this world.  I would say and He would agree, it was quite a good plan.  It was the plan of man that messed it up!  Cling to Him, not to man, remember His plan, not yours,  and seek Him with all your heart.

Seeking Him with all my heart,
Sheila
