The King's Bride

Psalm 45:10-17
English Standard Version (ESV)
10 Hear, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear:
    forget your people and your father's house,
11     and the king will desire your beauty.
Since he is your
(A)lord, (B)bow to him.
12     The people[a] of Tyre will (C)seek your favor with (D)gifts,
    (E)the richest of the people.[b]
13 All glorious is (F)the princess in her chamber, with robes interwoven with gold.
14     (G)In many-colored robes (H)she is led to the king,
    with her virgin companions following behind her.
15 With joy and gladness they are led along
    as they enter the palace of the king.
16 In place of your fathers shall be your sons;
    you will make them (I)princes in all the earth.
17 (J)I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations;
    therefore nations will praise you forever and ever.

Many little girls dream about being the Princess or even the Queen in the King’s Palace but few actually get the privilege.  To be the bride of the king these verses indicate that you must leave your father, your family, and become the king’s.  Your life is changed forever as your task now is to have sons and make them princes.  Because of this new duty, the queen will be made known to the nations.  With all the glory comes a revelation to the nations forever and ever.

Now, let’s go ahead a few years and step into the New Testament, in fact, let’s go to Revelation 21:1-4 and read about the end of the world as we know it.
21 Then I saw (A)a new heaven and a new earth, for (B)the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw (C)the holy city, (D)new Jerusalem, (E)coming down out of heaven from God, (F)prepared (G)as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, (H)the dwelling place[a] of God is with man. He will (I)dwell with them, and they will be his people,[b] and God himself will be with them as their God.[c] (J)He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and (K)death shall be no more,(L)neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

We are the bride of Christ, the church, those who are true believers.  We are the bride and the groom is Christ.  We too must leave the earthly possessions here, Jesus made that clear when He called His disciples.  We should not cling to the things of this world because someday they will be all gone.  Left will be the Groom seeking His bride.

As we continue our walk on this earth we must seek Him and know Him.  Keep our lamps burning so that we do not miss the groom when He comes calling.

Seeking Him with all my heart,

Sheil
