Psalm 96
English Standard Version (ESV)
96 (A)Oh sing to the Lord (B)a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth!

(C)tell of his salvation from day to day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!
4 For (D)great is the Lord, and (E)greatly to be praised;
he is to be feared above (F)all gods.
5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
but the Lord (G)made the heavens.
6 Splendor and majesty are before him;
(H)strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
sing to the Lord, all the earth!

11 Let (R)the heavens be glad, and let (S)the earth rejoice;
let (T)the sea roar, and all that fills it;
12 let (U)the field exult, and everything in it!
Then shall all (V)the trees of the forest sing for joy
13 before the Lord, for he comes,
for he comes (W)to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness,
and the peoples in his faithfulness.

I
am so glad that God gave us music. When
I am down and out it is music that first reminds me of God’s love. I can go and play the piano and life just
seems to get better. I think God gave us
music so that we could do just what the Psalmist says, sing to HIM.
I
like to watch The Voice on television, it is a singing contest where people
compete for a record deal to get their career going. It saddens me though when I hear people say
they grew up singing in church yet I have not heard one song being sung that
glorifies God and sings praises to His name.
It seems that it is all about making the big bucks and being recognized
by the big record labels. To anyone that
God has given you the gift of song I hope that you will remember this Psalm and
remember that it is He that we should be singing to and not people.
He
is the One that we will bow to one day, who will judge us with His
faithfulness. Will He find us faithful
or will He find us searching for success in other places. Seek Him and know that He is God and serve
Him with whatever talents and gifts that He has given you from this day
forward.
Seeking
Him with all my heart,
Sheila
