The Perfect Life

Psalm 101
English Standard Version (ESV)

A Psalm of David.

101 I will sing of (A)steadfast love and justice;
    to you, O Lord, I will make music.
I will (B)ponder the way (C)that is blameless.
    Oh when will you (D)come to me?
I will
(E)walk with (F)integrity of heart
    within my house;
I will not set before my eyes
    anything (G)that is worthless.
I hate the work of those who
(H)fall away;
    it shall not cling to me.
(I)A perverse heart shall be far from me;
    I will (J)know nothing of evil.
Whoever slanders his neighbor (K)secretly
    I will (L)destroy.
Whoever has a
(M)haughty look and an (N)arrogant heart
    I will not endure.
I will look with favor on the faithful in the land,
    that they may dwell with me;
he who walks in
(O)the way that is blameless
    shall minister to me.
No one who (P)practices deceit
    shall dwell in my house;
no one who utters lies
    shall (Q)continue before my eyes.
(R)Morning by morning I will destroy
    all the wicked in the land,
(S)cutting off all (T)the evildoers
    from (U)the city of the Lord.

David had every good intention to please the Lord and keep His commandments.  It is evident in this Psalm.  However, we know that even David failed at being perfect in the sight of God.  But the good news was coming out of the line of David, a Savior, who could live this kind of life, a perfect life, who would come to bring salvation to all of us.

As I write this, today happens to be a day we call, “Good Friday”.  I have always wondered why it was called “good” because it was the most evil day that has ever existed.  It was the day that an innocent, blameless man was wrongfully accused and was put to death.  The only thing “good” about it is that He did it for my sins and yours.  It is the day that Jesus sacrificed His life so that I might live in eternal communion with God.  He built a bridge by way of the cross so that I may have communion with Him.

One evening at AWANA I was telling the story of the crucifixion of Christ and one little four year old boy began to cry.  I had to stop and tell him, it gets better!  Yes, it does, He arose from that death to prove to all that there is life after death and that He had the power over death!  There is a hope for each and every one of us that this life is not the end.  Without His resurrection Jesus would have just been a good man but rather He proved His deity by rising again.  Hallelujah , Amen!!!!!  If we are going to call Friday Good maybe we should call Sunday, AWESOME!!!!!!!!

As you celebrate the Easter holiday this year, don’t get caught up in the Easter bunny, eggs and candy.  Don’t put your family gathering the focal point of the day.  Rather remember that a part of God left Himself, left His throne, and came to this earth to live a life that was perfect and then to die for our sins but rose again on the third day!!!!  What an amazing God whom I call my HERO!!!!

If you have not repented of your sins and asked to be a part of the family of God, today is your day.  Don’t delay!!!  Humble yourself to God.  Recognize that Jesus is your way to salvation, acknowledge that God is Lord of all, admit that you are a sinner and the only way to salvation is through Christ.  Tell God your story (he knows it but wants to hear it from you), in the name of Jesus claim your portion of eternal life through Christ our Lord and be saved.  Don’t stop there, tell others of this salvation, be baptized showing others of your union with Him through His death and resurrection and become a part of a church family that will help you and guide you through the journey of this life.

Seek Him and know that He is gracious!!!!!!!

I Corinthians 15:3-4
”3 For (A)I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died (B)for our sins (C)in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised (D)on the third day (E)in accordance with the Scriptures,
