Psalm 150 English Standard Version (ESV)
150
Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty
heavens![a]
2
Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to
his excellent greatness!
3
Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and
harp!
4
Praise him with tambourine and dance;
praise him with strings
and pipe!
5
Praise him with sounding cymbals;
praise him with loud
clashing cymbals!
6
Let
everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
As
we come to the close of Psalm we must reflect on what we have learned about
God.
Just a few things that we have learned:
1.
He
is our Strength.
2.
He
is our Light.
3.
He
is our Shoulder to cry on.
4.
He
is our Judge.
5.
He
is our Redeemer.
6.
He
is our Creator.
7.
He
is our Friend.
The
list could go on and on but I will stop there.
You could choose just one of those and have reason enough to praise
Him! We can praise Him for His mighty
deeds or His greatness, there is so much to praise Him for.
Often
times in our churches we end up spending more time complaining about the
“music” than we do in worshipping our Lord and Savior. The music it too loud, too slow, too boring .
. . What if, we just paid more attention
to the worship of our Lord and less about how everyone else does it? Do you think we might end up Praising the
Lord the way He intended for us to? Are
we pleasing Him in our “Praise Time”?
I
have always said that God is not deaf and the music doesn’t have to be loud to
give Him praise. However, in this
scripture it indicates “loud cymbals”. I
believe the point is, we need to be enthusiastic and our enthusiasm can be
measured by how much effort we actually put into the praise. If I went to a ballgame to cheer on my team
and I barely whispered, “Go Team”, I don’t think me being there would make a
difference. What if everyone there did
the same? We might as well have not even
shown up.
Some
people say they just want to be able to hear themselves sing. I have gone to basketball games at the
University of Kansas. It is an exciting
event mainly because the crowd is so enthusiastic. My favorite part is when the crowd begins to
roar so loud that no one can even hear their own voice. They are cheering their team on in
unison. Why is it though, we go to
church and we need to be quiet? Why do
we need to turn the volume down so we can hear ourselves sing? Why is it that sometimes we only Praise Him
during worship time? We need to
continually give Him praise no matter where we are.
In
all we do, we need to give God praise.
Sometimes it is loud, sometimes soft, sometimes in a cry to Him but we
must not forget to praise Him. As you
seek Him remember that He is with you and worthy of your praise.
May
God bless you as you serve Him, praise Him, and seek Him.
Seeking
Him with all my heart,
Sheila
