Who is Righteous?

Psalm 15
English Standard Version (ESV)

A Psalm of David.
15 Lord(A)who shall sojourn in your (B)tent?
    Who shall dwell on your (C)holy hill?
He who (D)walks blamelessly and (E)does what is right
    and (F)speaks truth in his heart;
who (G)does not slander with his tongue
    and does no evil to his neighbor,
    nor (H)takes up a reproach against his friend;
4 (I)in whose eyes a vile person is despised,
    but who honors those who fear the Lord;
who (J)swears to his own hurt and does not change;
who (K)does not put out his money at interest
    and (L)does not take a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things shall never be (M)moved.

Romans 3:20-25

English Standard Version (ESV)

20 For (A)by works of the law no human being[a] will be justified in his sight, since (B)through the law comes knowledge of sin.
21 But now (C)the righteousness of God (D)has been manifested apart from the law, although (E)the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22 the righteousness of God (F)through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. (G)For there is no distinction: 23 for (H)all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 (I)and are justified (J)by his grace as a gift, (K)through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God (L)put forward as (M)a propitiation (N)by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in (O)his divine forbearance he had passed over (P)former sins.

There we have it!  None of us deserve to be called righteous except through the blood of Jesus Christ our Lord.  Being sinless, He took the sins of this world upon Himself in order that we could be righteous enough to enter the Kingdom of God.  Now that is what I call awesome!!!!  There is nothing more powerful than this.  I don’t deserve to enter the Kingdom of Heaven but Christ paved the way for me.  The only way though to get to Heaven is through Christ.  It is not through being good, reading your Bible daily, nor is it about following all of the Ten Commandments because we all slip up from time to time.  It is about recognizing who is above all, confessing our sins to Him, and accepting forgiveness through the blood of Jesus Christ.  If you are living a life just trying to follow those Ten Commandments then you have missed the mark.

However, if you have received the Lord as your Savior, you should be using those commandments as an example of how you should live your life.  You know, through those commandments, how God wants you to live your life.  With the guidance of the Holy Spirit you should be living righteously.  Yes, we slip up and God forgives us but that is no excuse to keep on sinning.

As you seek Him I pray that you will be seeking Him with all your heart and that you will allow the righteousness of God shine through you.

Seeking Him with all my heart,
Sheila
