Psalm 119:137-152
English
Standard Version (ESV)
Tsadhe
137
Righteous are you, O Lord,
and right
are your rules.
138
You have appointed your testimonies in
righteousness
and in all faithfulness.
139
My zeal consumes me,
because my foes
forget your words.
140
Your promise is well tried,
and your
servant loves it.
141
I am small and despised,
yet I do
not forget your precepts.
142
Your righteousness is righteous
forever,
and your law is true.
143
Trouble and anguish have found me
out,
but your commandments are my delight.
144
Your testimonies are righteous
forever;
give me understanding that I may live.
Qoph
145
With my whole heart I cry; answer me, O
Lord!
I will keep your statutes.
146
I call to you; save me,
that I may
observe your testimonies.
147
I rise before dawn and cry for
help;
I hope in your words.
148
My eyes are awake before the watches of the
night,
that I may meditate on your promise.
149
Hear my voice according to your steadfast love;
O
Lord, according to your justice give me life.
150
They draw near who persecute me with evil
purpose;
they are far from your law.
151
But you are near, O Lord,
and all
your commandments are true.
152
Long have
I known from your testimonies
that you have founded
them forever.
When
life throws us two curve balls and it seems like we have just stuck out, we
need to remember these verses. We may
want to just give up and decide life is just not worth it but that is not true
at all. As long as God has us on this
earth, He has a plan for us and we need to continue to seek His counsel, and
know (even if we don’t understand) that His ways are righteous and just.
Just
as in these scriptures, I have cried out to the Lord at night, I have sought
Him in the early morning, and I have longed to hear His voice. When I have cried out to Him at night, He has
always given me scriptures in the morning that have helped me know that His
commandments are true and they will last forever.
I
may not be satisfied right at this moment with the direction that I am going
but knowing the Lord is guiding me assures me that He has a great and mighty
plan for me and that He will see me through until it is finished. I will continue to seek Him in the morning
and continually ask Him for the strength to make it down the road He is leading
me. Some say that an open window or door
does not always mean that is the direction that you should go. If you are
asking God to guide you and you are seeking His ways, then, I believe that is the
way that you should go. I truly believe
that if you are seeking His ways, He will not open and close any door or window
that will keep you from following Him, if you choose to follow Him. Just as He gave Peter the rooster to crow, He
will give you reminders to continually acknowledge Him and trust that His
commandments are true. (Matthew
26:30-35; 69-75)
Seek
Him that you may know and follow His commandments.
Seeking
Him with all my heart,
Sheila
