Honor God with Trust
Psalm 123
English
Standard Version (ESV)
A Song of Ascents.
123
To you I lift up my eyes,
O you who are enthroned
in the heavens!
2
Behold, as the eyes of servants
look to the hand of
their master,
as the eyes of a maidservant
to the hand of her
mistress,
so our eyes look to the Lord our God,
till he has mercy upon
us.
3
Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us,
for we have had more
than enough of contempt.
4
Our soul
has had more than enough
of the scorn of those who are at ease,
of the contempt of the
proud. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+123&version=ESV
When
we call upon the Lord with a request often times we get impatient, waiting for
that request to be fulfilled. Anyway that
is what happens with me. This Psalm,
however, tells us how we should wait upon the Lord.
A
good servant stands by and waits for the master to speak. They may humbly approach their employer with
a request but then they wait for the response.
In our society I see more and more of this not happening. Employees don’t like what their boss says so
they either ignore it or argue with them regarding it. Students don’t like what their teacher says
so they call their parents on them and it gets taken care of. Children don’t like that their parents are
going to make them wait so they whine until they get what they want. When we pray and ask do we whine and throw a
fit or do we wait patiently for the Master to give us direction? I must say that I am the one that whines and
pouts. I have always been that way and
it is time that I change. Father, I pray
that you will guide me to peace in you.
May I ever trust you and not doubt you.
May I wait upon you and your direction without whining or complaining. Please forgive me for the times that I have
doubted you or put my trust in others rather than you. Guide me Father in the path that you would
have for me and give me that peace that only comes from you. I will honor and praise you with all my
heart. In Jesus precious name I pray,
AMEN.
Seek
Him and know that He is worthy of our trust.
Seeking
Him with all my heart,
Sheila
