Strength from God

Psalm 118:10-13
English Standard Version (ESV)
10
All nations surrounded me;
    in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
11
They surrounded me, surrounded me on every side;
    in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
12
They surrounded me like bees;
    they went out like a fire among thorns;
    in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
13
I was pushed hard,[a] so that I was falling,
    but the Lord helped me.

Have you ever felt surrounded on all sides and didn’t know where to go or what to do?  I have and it isn’t a very good feeling.  Often times when that happens we begin to try to do things on our own.  We fret and stew about things that we have no control over.  We try working harder and harder but end up spinning our wheels.  Anyway that is how it works for me.  In fact, I have been doing just that lately.  I’m stressed and tension is built up in all of my body.  To think that David was surrounded on all sides by his enemies yet the Lord defeated His enemies when David call upon Him for strength is amazing and gives me hope.

That is a good lesson for me to learn today and I hope it is for you as well.  We don’t have to be defeated by the enemy.  The enemy can be anything that traps you and keeps us from the peace of God.  Seek Him and call upon His name and He will give you strength.

Seeking Him with all my heart,

Sheila
